10 July 2013 Until 16 July 2013 Documentation

We have done some discussion during our study break. Our group decided to create an interactive installation that is triggered by kayak. Our primary idea is create a virtual kayaking experience that related to WWF awareness. We planned to let audiences explore and experience the polluted environment and discover issues that had destroy the environment and animals.

As I am the Content Leader of the group, I start searching for information about WWF such as what are they doing and what they want to achieve. On the same time, I also start collecting information about nature, environments and animals. From the researches I have done, I have learned that our environment is currently being polluted and destroyed because of different human activities such as deforestation, commercial plantation, factories road construction and illegal animals hunting. I also discovered that there are some associations such as World Wildlife Fun (WWF) is currently put in their efforts in saving the nature and animals and there are some actions that we can do to support them.

In order to have some samples for my group as references, I have also searched for different art installation about environment. Here are some examples of researches I have found:
As our group decided to make a progressing front movement jungle exploring animation that triggered by kayaking, I also try to search for some samples of jungle exploring in first person view as the references for my group:

As we need to show the project plan proposal prototype to our lecturers on 17 July 2013, we have put in all of our efforts in creating the proposal. When doing the proposal, I have learnt how to do a Gantt chart from my team leader to schedule my times in carry out different tasks. We planned that the content of our interactive installation are animals' silhouettes made from rubbish. The story flow of our content is like this:
  • Audience can see animal silhouette at some point of exploration
  • When they move closer, they will find out that the animal silhouette is made by rubbish
  • Audience interact with the rubbish animal statue and the information about how the change of environment destroy the animal habitat and cause the extinction of the animal
  • After the interaction, the rubbish animal statue will move away from the screen horizontally
  • Then, the audience will see some human trying different efforts to save the environment
  • Audience have the option to choose help or not help
  • The exploration end when audience reach a port
