13 November 2013 Documentation

Today is our interactive installation Live Event Exhibition. From the morning, I start helping my Logistic Leader to do final set up of the boat to make sure everything is in good condition.

In addition, I also need to make sure our proposal is ready to be presented to our users, so I have done a final check up on the proposal.

And finally, our interactive installation is ready to be tried by the users. This time, the infographics is included into the animation, so the content of the installation is much more better than last time.

This time, I also manage to get some useful feedbacks from the users. First and foremost, the text in our interactive content is not flowing with the animation, and they recommended me to highlight the important points in the infographics os that people can get the points in a glance. The building in our installation is not related to Malaysia, which is not suite the purpose of our objective about creating interactive installation for WWF Malaysia. Finally, the animation should allow to user to restart as some users may stop at middle of the exploration and the following users should start over again, but not continue the previous users' exploration.

And yes, it is the end of our interactive installation. In conclusion, I have learnt a lot of valuable and useful knowledge through this project. The main lesson that I have learnt from this project is teamwork spirits play an important roles in group projects. We must be tolerance among our team and helping each other to maximize our performance in the group. From the experiences as a Content Leader, I also learnt a lot useful skills in content gathering, editing, summarizing and visualizing. These valuable and useful knowledge, skills and feedbacks from my lectures will be an useful guidance for my future studies and career journey.

6 November 2013 Until 12 November 2013 Documentation

I have done some refinements on storyline based on the feedbacks we get during Beta Test. I also helping my Design Leader to continue adding more assets into the animation.

I am also responsible for compile the data I recorded previously into a project documentation that will be submitted to our lecturers. At this moment, I realized that keep all the documents and working files I have done in the project are very important so that I can do the documentation easier and faster. I also learnt from my teammates that keeping all the working files and sketches are very important to prove that our works are original and what are the processes we are going through when creating our project. I am also responsible for create a proper referencing bibliography to credit the sources we have used in our project. From this task, I learnt proper way of referencing from my teammates and internet resources.

28 August 2013 Documentation

Finally today is our Beta Testing day. In the morning, we had to carry the boat back to The One Academy for exhibition. It has been a harsh time for me as my physical stamina is not good.

When we reach The One Academy, I helped my Logistic Leader to set up the boat and wiring. I have done whatever I can help but the result was not very successful. We only manage to finished 80% of our installation animation.

As our installation animation is not completed, the contents of our installation cannot be displayed properly to our testers, which is very disappointing. However, I still manage to get some feedbacks from the testers. Based on their feedbacks, I realized that as a Content Leader, I also need to think of logic of the content, such as where should the leaves and moss should be located, what are sounds of trees falling into water. As the infographics are not put into the animation, I only can show the infographics to the testers after the animation, which is not good in performing our contents. They cannot see the statistics of the animals in the animation, and thus do not know the current status of the endangered animals when trying our installation.

In addition, the testers also suggested me to use logo instead of words to show the information as people like pictures more than text. They also stated that the contents should show positive emotions to encourage people to do actions and the information should be showed in rhythms. One of the testers also suggest me to show the photos of real incidents to let the users feel the impact. I realize that feeling is very important to create awareness and impact to the users.

Some of the testers also asking about how the users going to help or contribute after experience our installation. They suggested me to ask a question to users such as "You know how a coin can help?" to let them know they actually can donate a coin to help the animals.

Last but not least, the testers also suggested me that if the installation is proposed to help the WWF, try to have a intro or brief about WWF to let the users know what is WWF. One of the testers also recommended me to make the installation have the selling points so that next time we can sell it to WWF.

22 August 2013 Until 27 August 2013 Documentation

The boat had arrived at The One Academy on 21 August 2013. We planned to carry the boat to our group leader's hostel to refine and paint the boat.

As I am also the Logistic Assistant, I helped my leader to carry the boat back to his hostel. I was nearly exhausted after carrying the boat and this is the moment I realized that my physical performance is not good. I learnt that I should do some exercise regularly to improve my body stamina so that I will have better physical performance next time.

I also help in refining and painting the boat. This is my first painting experience, so I was a bit excited and the result is my clothes full of paint dots everywhere.

Besides that, I also busy finding real photos of animals after recommended by my lecturers.

In addition, I also continue to look for sound effects needed in our installation.

By the way, I also continue helping my Design Leader to search for free vector resources:

As usual, I continue searching for sound effects for the installation and learnt how to get free sounds, loops and background music from internet resources. I also have the opportunities to learn how to define a good sound effect that suitable for each element in our project. I have zipped and uploaded the sound effects I have found to our Technical Leader through Facebook.

I also continue to help my Design Leader to trace and search for free vector resources.

In addition, I also help the Design Leader to create layout of the infographics.

14 August 2013 Documentation

Today is the day we do our alpha test. We present what we have done so far to our lecturers. After the presentation, my lecturers advised me to start finding sound effect for the installation. They advised me to find at least 5 different water splash sound so that the sound effects will be more realistic.

Other than water splash sounds, I also need to search for background music, animal sounds and insect sounds for our installation. My lecturers also suggested me to extract narration from the WWF documentaries and put them inside the installation. For the story part, they suggested me to have the beginning and ending for the story, and I guest I have to adjust the story again.

In addition, my lecturers also advised me to record down the hours needed for each tasks and also recorded the process I have gone through to produce this installation.

2 August 2013 Until 13 August 2013 Documentation

These 2 weeks are our group production weeks where each group member start carry out own tasks. As the Content Leader of the group, I continue to search for further information to enhance the infographic.

In addition,As a design assistant, I have helped my leader to trace vector graphics for the projects. During this process, I have learnt many useful Illustrator technique and skills from my teammates and classmates. I also learnt how to find free vector graphics from the internet resources properly. I also learnt how to be more productive by learning multitasking skills. Multitasking skills enable me to carry out multiple tasks together such as helping my teammates and on the same time carry out my own tasks as Content Leader of the team. This is where I discovered that time management and self-discipline is very important to keep myself always able to catch up the targets stated in the schedules and Gantt chart.
